Who Is Patrice Sterling?
Patrice Sterling, BCPA, is a Board Certified Patient
Advocate, healthcare communications professional,
consultant, speaker, author, and caregiver leader who
helps caregivers, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and
community partners move from good intentions to
informed, care-centered action.
Her work is grounded in both professional expertise and
more than two decades of lived experience navigating
sickle cell disease alongside her son. This dual perspective
gives Patrice a clear understanding of what families
experience, what healthcare professionals and
organizations are working to accomplish, and where
communication, trust, and systems can break down.
As a healthcare communications and change management
professional, Patrice has extensive experience in strategic
communications, stakeholder engagement, program
implementation, education, and event facilitation. She has
coordinated cross-functional initiatives, developed
communications and learning resources, supported
organizational change, and helped diverse stakeholders
move toward shared goals.

Life’s challenges tend to arrive hand in hand with life’s champions. Patrice Sterling is a champion – for her son, for her family and, with the release of this book, for any person caring for a loved one contending with chronic disease... Over the course of a health journey defined by pain and unpredictable hospital visits, the challenges and wins live alongside each other: a harrowing diagnosis unlocks incredible opportunities; disappointing hospital visits were met with Patrice’s unparalleled patient advocacy — and health heroes; moments of insensitivity and great tenderness co-exist in a strong community of support.
