About

Patrice Sterling, BCPA, is a Board Certified Patient Advocate, healthcare communications professional, consultant, speaker, author, and caregiver leader who helps caregivers, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and community partners move from good intentions to informed, care-centered action.
Her work is grounded in both professional expertise and more than two decades of lived experience navigating sickle cell disease alongside her son. This dual perspective gives Patrice a clear understanding of what families experience, what healthcare professionals and organizations are working to accomplish, and where communication, trust, and systems can break down.
As a healthcare communications and change management professional, Patrice has extensive experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, program implementation, education, and event facilitation. She has coordinated cross-functional initiatives, developed communications and learning resources, supported organizational change, and helped diverse stakeholders move toward shared goals.
Her ability to connect lived experience with organizational strategy allows her to help clients communicate more Edit clearly, engage communities more meaningfully, and design programs and experiences that are responsive to the people they serve. Her approach is practical, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that those most affected by a decision should be meaningfully included in shaping it.
Patrice also serves as a Family and Patient Advocate with Sickle Cell Warriors, Inc. and co-hosts the Walking with Warriors podcast, which elevates the experiences of individuals living with sickle cell disease, caregivers, advocates, and healthcare professionals. She has developed and facilitated caregiver workshops, advocacy sessions, panel discussions, and community conversations focused on sickle cell disease, caregiver well-being, patient and family engagement, healthcare navigation, communication, and finding one’s voice.
Through PS Unlimited, Patrice offers consulting, speaking, workshop facilitation, panel participation, program development, and strategic communications support. Her signature strength is translating complex information and lived experience into practical insights that caregivers, audiences, and organizations can understand and use.
Event organizers, talent coordinators, healthcare leaders, nonprofits, and community organizations are invited to contact Patrice for conferences, keynotes, workshops, panels, podcasts, consulting engagements, and collaborative initiatives centered on caregiving, advocacy, communication, and meaningful change.

Where lived experience meets professional expertise

I bring a perspective that bridges multiple worlds.

As a caregiver & patient advocate

I understand what families experience when systems feel complicated, overwhelming, or difficult to navigate.

As a communications & change professional

I understand how organizations communicate, implement change, engage audiences, and move ideas into action.

As a speaker, facilitator & author

I create spaces where people can learn, reflect, connect, and leave with practical tools they can actually use.

This intersection is at the heart of PS Unlimited.

Whether I am speaking to caregivers, facilitating a workshop, partnering with a healthcare organization, or developing resources, my goal is to help turn information into understanding — and understanding into meaningful action.
The Work

My work primarily centers around five areas.

Caregiver Empowerment

Helping caregivers build confidence, protect their own well-being, and recognize the value of their voice and experience.

Patient & Family Advocacy

Equipping individuals and families to communicate effectively, ask informed questions, and participate as partners in care.

Healthcare Communication

Helping professionals and organizations better understand the patient and caregiver perspective and strengthen meaningful engagement.

Speaking & Facilitation

Delivering practical, engaging conversations that move audiences from awareness to action.

Sickle Cell Advocacy

Drawing from extensive lived and advocacy experience to elevate caregiver voices, improve understanding, and support stronger systems of care.
Turn information into understanding — and understanding into meaningful action.

Why this work matters

Healthcare can be complicated. Caregiving can be consuming. Advocacy can feel intimidating.
People should not have to become experts overnight just to make sure someone they love receives thoughtful, responsive care.
At the same time, healthcare professionals and organizations are often working within complex systems while trying to meaningfully connect with the people they serve.
There is an opportunity in that intersection.
When caregivers are respected as partners, patients are empowered to use their voices, and organizations listen with intention, we can create experiences that are more informed, collaborative, and human.

That is the work I want to help move forward.
